My primary research interests are in the history and philosophy of medicine. I’m most curious about questions in disease classification, diagnosis, and the conceptual analysis of disease. I especially focus on the role of various technologies in these areas, looking particularly at the history of Electronic Medical Record (EMR) systems and personal health devices, like continuous glucose monitors. How have these technologies changed the way clinicians and patients diagnose, classify, and conceptualize disease?
After graduating with a BA in History and Philosophy of Science from the University of Pittsburgh in 2020, I spent time working in virtual clinical documentation before returning to join the HPS department as a graduate student in 2021. Previously, I studied classical viola performance at the New England Conservatory in Boston. Outside of HPS, I enjoy keeping houseplants and learning to crochet.
