My research interests lie at the intersection of philosophy of cognitive science, philosophy of AI, and philosophy of mind. I am currently interested in several interrelated questions: Should we explain AI minds using the same explanatory frameworks we apply to human minds? What does "representation" mean in machine learning research? And which concepts, theories, and predictions from the connectionist/PDP research paradigm of the 1980s remain relevant to contemporary debates?
Before coming to Pitt in 2026, I did a MA in philosophy at Georgia State and a BA in philosophy and computer science at Swarthmore college.
