I am primarily interested in how the sciences relate to one another across different domains and throughout history. As a result, I am drawn to issues such as reduction, explanation, representation, causation, and realism. I have a secondary interest in how the sciences can contribute to questions in metaphysics and epistemology.
Before coming to Pitt HPS I studied mechanical engineering (BS) at Cal Poly SLO and philosophy (BA) at the University of Washington. I also spent several years working in industry and am a licensed professional engineer (PE) in the state of Washington.
